BURNHAM YMCA FOOTBALL
This page is where it all started. Back in 1959, Mr. Robert Bohn, decided it was time
for what he called "Little League Football". They started the season with 4 teams :
Burnham YMCA, Lewistown YMCA, Pine Street and Reedsville. The games were
believed to be played on Saturday morning, and they provided the jersey's; you got the
helmet. By the time the sixties ended, the league grew up to 10 teams, and spread to
3 counties (Mifflin, Juniata, and Huntingdon). Up until 1964, there was no what we call
"Championship Game". The team that took first place, played the All-Stars from the other
teams in the league. The YMCA sponsored the football league until 1976, at which time
our present league was started. Thank-you Mr. Bohn for the initiative to get it all started,
and for what we have going now. Also, I would like to thank Vince "The Rock" Mazza
for all the information he provided us with.
