League Meeting Minutes, 19 September 2002 at 8:30pm, Terrace Community Building |
OLD ISSUES : |
Flag Football coaches expressed concern for the teams that have the same colored flags as shirts, |
players are grabbing shirt tails and all. Flags may be swapped amongst the other teams to avoid this. |
Referees for the 2002 season has become a major issue. Belltown and Stone Valley have no League |
refs for their home games and the Little Mingoes use their own refs. The 2002 playoffs and for the 2003 season, |
League refs will be present at all games. The schedule will be finalized by Daren Curry, once the schedule is |
complete, and you need to change a game, you will have to make other arrangements for refs. This schedule |
may be ready for the next meeting. |
On 18 Sept., the Midget Game between Little Mingoes at Belltown, seen a player from each team |
be ejected from the game for alleged physical altercation. The refs for the game were parents of the Belltown |
organization. By word of both head coaches, there was absolutely no punches thrown, just some shoving |
around after the whistle, no need for the ejection. The League was approached for the sanction of a game where |
ejected, means a game suspension, be removed from this incident because of the parent referee situation. |
The League brought to a vote, without a vote permitted by the 2 involved head coaches, to see whether the |
players will be eligible for next game. The result of the vote was 13 to 1 in favor the players will be eligible for |
the next game. |
A good idea was mentioned for consideration for the 2003 season, place a weight limit on the 10 |
year olds, to be eligible for midgets for the players 10 yr old season. Example : Any player under the weight of |
65 lbs. That is not ready for the midget level, may play an additional year at Pee-Wee. |
Numbers for the 2002 Season for players are : Midget Football - 202, Pee-Wee Football - 195, |
Midget Cheer - 166, Pee-Wee Cheer - 171, Flag Football - 52. |
