"Highlights from the 2003 Midget Championship Game"
LITTLE MINGOES 8-2
vs
EAST JUNIATA TIGERS 10-0
This years' Midget Championship was one of the best games of the last 5 years. The Tigers of East Juniata came
into the contest with an unblemished record of 10-0, and hopes of being crowned Midget Champs to go along with their
Regular Season Champion Title. Their opponent this evening would be the Little Mingoes, whom are far to familar with
these title games. The weather would not help either team on this night, but the kids, I'm sure, enjoyed it very much. Both
teams defenses were relentless, giving absolutely nothing. As far as the offense, the Mingoes put together 2 impressive
drives of over 16 plays each, only to get fizzled out by a stern Tiger defense. After the rain subsided, the only things left
on the field were divets the size of footballs and 2 teams with the same color uniforms; mud. East Juniata came out on top
6-0 for their first Midget Title since 1982. Congrats to both teams, coaches and players for a very well played ball game.
Special thanks to Dave Burman, JC Hammond and Larry Wise from WCHX 105.5 for broadcasting the game live on the
radio. Thanks to "The Sentinel" and "County Observer" for the newspaper coverage, and to Steve Scheaffer for the action
photos of the game.
